 DRIVER REQUIREMENTS Age minimum has been raised to 13 years of age due to insurance demands.  Maximum age level is 15 years.  Drivers must be  able to operate all safety equipment and be able to start car, shift gears and complete test for officials.   Prior to  racing, a mandatory orientation must be attended by driver and parents.  Notarized release forms  must be completed before being allowed to race.  (NOTE: If a driver begins a racing season at 15 years and turns 16 years during the season, they will be allowed to finish the season.)

 

NOTICE:  All components are subject to inspection and approval of Track Officials.  No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.  IF IT DOESN’T SAY YOU CAN…DON’T!!

 

CHASSIS/BODY:  Cars must be 1962 or newer sedan or truck with four cylinder engine.  Front or rear wheel drive.  Stock appearing body as they came from the factory.  Must have a minimum of three windshield bars in front of driver.  Stock bumpers are okay.  No exposed pipe or sharp corner on bumpers.  Must maintain stock steel unaltered floor pan.  Firewall and trunk floor must be retained.  No altering for wheel base.  All glass and flammable items must be removed from car.  Front fender-well may be removed.  Front and rear fender may be trimmed for tire clearance.  Inner rear fenders may not be cut out.  May have hole in hood for air filter clearance only.

ROLL CAGE:  Minimum four (4) point cage with X bracing.  Three door bars on driver side and two door bars on passenger’s side minimum.  Bars may run from front to rear as you wish, as long as no bars extend outside of body components.  Rub rails shall be no more than 1 inch by 2 inches and may be attached to the body from fender-well to fender-well and rear quarter panel, flush with body.

SUSPENSION:  Must remain stock from factory.  No interchanging of leaf and coil springs.  No after market suspension parts.  Max, lowering blocks on leaf springs cars or trucks is 3 inches.  Front and rear track must remain in stock location.  No after market or homemade traction devices.  No weight jacks.  All shocks and struts must remain in stock location.

STEERING:  Stock steering box must be in original stock location.  No center steering.  Steering may be quickened, quick release steering wheel permitted.

TIRES:  Any steel wheel 7 inches wide or less.  Tires must be “DOT 70” series or less.  No Marsh, McCreary, Hoosier.  No beadlock or mudgrips allowed.

REAR-ENDS:  Must be OEM rear-end.

ENGINES:  Stock four cylinder from manufacturer.  Max block size is 2.3 liter on Fords, 2.4 liter on foreign, 2.5 liter on GM.  (No iron Duke engines).  Block:  cannot be bored over .060.  Can be milled.  Must use stock crankshaft and rods.  Head:  Can be milled. Must use stock size valve (valve face must be stock diameter).  No aluminum heads unless stock from factory.  No after-market racing heads.  Stock stroke on engines.  Engine must pull 15” of vacuum at 900 RPM.  No altering engine location.  May use solid motor mounts.  No headers, must run stock exhaust manifold with exhaust pipe directing spent gasses under car.

GENERAL:  No aluminum flywheels.  No Mini Clutches or couplers.  Must run stock clutch and pressure plate.  Must have hole in bell housing for inspecting flywheel and pressure plate.  Safety shield over bell housing and mounted inside of firewall.  Cars running automatic transmission must have working torque converter, may run transmission cooler.  Rear wheel drive cars must have drive line loop.  Drive shaft must be painted white.  No Nitrous Oxide or alcohol.  Gas only, race gas okay.  Electric fuel pump allowed.  Must have automatic cut off switch for electric fuel pump to kill fuel pump (in case of roll-over).  Stock type ignition only.  Ignition switch must be plainly marked and in reach of driver and safety crew.

CARBURETORS:  Can use any two barrel carburetor as long as it is no larger than 500 cfm.  Choke horn must be in place.  No sideway mounted carburetors.  No fuel injection allowed.  No turbo-chargers. 

SAFETY:  All track rules apply.  Fire suit, neck brace and approved helmet required.  Roll bar padding required in driver compartment, fire retardant padding recommended.  Battery must be mounted in leak proof container.  Over size lug nuts recommended.  Racing seat and five point belts required.  Seat must be mounted inside frame rail and ahead of rear tire.  Fire extinguisher in reach of driver and must be secured in place with brackets.  Fuel tank must be securely strapped down in trunk.  Fuel cell recommended.  If running fuel injection, may leave stock fuel tank in place, however, MUST completely cover the underside of fuel tank with 1/8 inch steel skid plate and may move filler neck to top of deck lid.  If fuel lines pass through driver’s compartment they must be in conduit.  All weights must be bolted or welded to car and painted white with car number on them.  Lead must be bolted with no smaller than 1/2" bolts.

WEIGHT:  One pound per cubic centimeter of motor displacement.

INTERIOR:  No boxing up driver’s compartment with tin or sheet metal.  Must be an open interior.

ENGINE CLAIM RULE:  Promoter has option of claiming any motor from intake to oil pan for $500 if necessary, to keep motors within the rules.  Refusal of engine claim will result in loss of all points and disqualification of car and driver from TEXAS JUNIOR MINI-STOCK CLASS.
