Abilene Speedway Weekly Procedures
Fun - We want everyone to have fun.
4 Wheelers - No one under 16 may operate any vehicle in the pits i.e., 4 wheelers, golf carts, etc. All 4-wheelers, mules, golf carts, will be parked 15 minutes after the last race and are not to be moved the rest of the night. There is a 5-mph speed limit. Proof of liability insurance will be required before any 4 wheeler, golf carts, etc. may be operated in Abilene Speedway pits.
Trash - everyone is responsible for keeping his or her immediate pit area clean of all trash. Drivers will be fined and money withheld for failure to keep their immediate pit area clean.
Flags:
Green - race Red - stop
Yellow - stop racing, reline Black - leave the track
Single Car Yellow - All races: 1st single car yellow-black-flagged
*You may work on your car on the track under RED ONLY. You may NOT add Fuel on the track
Hot Pit - All cars may go to the hot pit area at any time during a race. You may return during race at the back flagman’s discretion. Ex: If several cars are coming, you will have to wait until they pass to go back on. If you go to the hot pit during a caution you must start from rear on restart.
Black Flags - We do have black flags and will use them. If you drive in over your head and take someone out you will go to the pits. If you get black-flagged. Go to the Hot Pit first to make sure it is not mechanical.
Starts - Race will be started as cars come out of turn 4. If leaders do not stay even they will be given a 2nd chance. If they cannot start on the 2nd time they will switch places with the next cars.
Relines - After 1st lap all restarts will be single file. You know where you were. Get in line single file; if cars are in line we will keep you moving. If not, we will stop you on the back straightway. Stay single file on the topside of the track so officials can pick out cars for line up. If you do not stay single file, you will be put on the back! If you think your position is wrong wave your hand out the window and we will re-check it. We will not spend excessive time on relines. Help us by doing your part. Remember: Stay single file or go to the rear. We cannot reline cars that are stopped 3 or 4 wide. Failure to stop will result in being lined up on the rear of that race.
Restarts - All single file restarts will be at the cone at the back straightway. You must stay single file until you pass the cone or you will be black-flagged.
*Jackrabbit starts or jamming on the brakes before starting the race will not be tolerated and will result in a black flag.
*Any race taking excessive time may be called or cut short at the promoter’s discretion. Race will be scored on last completed lap or in case of a wreck, how cars would have restarted.
Wrecks - On the 1st lap car or cars causing Yellow/Red go to the rear, all others in their original line-up. On the first lap, if fault cannot be determined all cars go back to their original position. After 1st lap, anyone stopped on the track when the red/yellow or red flag comes out goes to the rear. Ex: If someone spins out in one turn, stops, and brings out the yellow/red flag and then spins out on the other corner and stops, you will both go to the rear because you are both stopped on the yellow/red. If you run over your head and cause a wreck, you will be black-flagged or go to the rear.
Completed Laps - All cars must complete a lap for the lap to be considered complete. Ex: There must not be any cars between the leader and start/finish line. If all cars are together and pass the finish line a lap is complete. If last car is a half a lap behind then the lap is not complete until he/she crosses the finish line.
Rough Driving - Rough driving will NOT be tolerated. Clean up your driving or get BLACK-FLAGGED!
Line-ups - Line ups are your responsibility. If you are not lined up ready to go, you will miss your race.
*Once a race is posted, all move ups will be straight up, no criss-cross. Only exception is if we leave a car off the line-up.
Staging - All cars should stage down the road behind pit bleachers. If you park in the south pit area, use crossover on west end and line up on north side leaving room for emergency vehicles. Please note: Crossovers to south pits are one way. Cross over to the south pits on the east crossover and cross over to the north pits on the west end. This is to help traffic and keep cars in line for the next race. Please keep cars staged to the left so cars can get to their pits.
Restricted Areas - Insurance does not permit participants in restricted areas. Stay behind secondary fences or you will get your car black-flagged. Do not go to the back flagman in turn 3. Do not go to the flagman or wreckers in turn 2. Do no go by fire truck on back straightway.
